About Plano

Plano is a principal city in Texas that is located within Collin and Denton County. It is only 20 miles north of downtown Dallas, 26.8 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and 20 miles from Dallas Love Field. Plano is named for the flat plains of the area but is home to two main Open Space Preserves. Bob Woodruff Park (321 acres) and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve (801) are connected by biking trails making the green space one large uninterrupted park space. The Plano ISD serves most of the city. They have a unique high school system, in which grades 9-10 attend high school and grades 11-12 attend senior high. Plano ISD enrollment has increased dramatically over the past few decades. In 2012 Newsweek listed Plano West as 63rd in the country and Plano Senior as 108th. Plano is also known for its large presence of corporate headquarters. JC Penny, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Frito-Lay, Toyota and Capital One Financial are just a few who call Plano their home.
